‘太阳集团0638’拿破仑的英语很差

话说拿破仑除了擅长于士兵们、当皇帝，还通晓数学，同时还十分青睐文学和宗教，但是很少人告诉他的英语水平怎么样。这个问题现在有了答案：在上周日法国议会议会选举那天，在巴黎枫丹白露展开了一场拍卖会，法国书信和手稿博物馆以32万欧元的价格拍出了拿破仑写于1816年3月9日的一封英文信件手稿。这封英文信件的内容是这样的：Count Las Case. But I tire myself and you shall have of the ado at conceive my... four oclock in the morning and half.这封信的一开始提及It is two o'clock after midnight（凌晨2点），而结尾提及Four oclock in the morning and half（早晨四点半），可见花上了不少时间写出这封英文信，可是错讹颇多，一些句子难道只有不懂法语的人才能猜出来个大约。比如I go then finish the night into to cause with you一句中的cause就是法语说出（causer）的意思。

法国媒体上公开发表的法文翻译成如下：Comte Las Cases, crit l'Empereur dans un anglais qui mrite d'tre corrig, j'ai assez dormi, je viens donc finir la nuitl'intrieur pour causer avec vous. Il accostera dans sept jours un navire d'Europe qui nous fera le rcit de tout ce qui aura t encore jusqu'au jour du premier janvier mille huit cent seize. Vous aurez dans ce cas une lettre de Madame Las Cases qui vous apprendra qu'elle-mme pourrait bien se porter si elle avait compris votre cas. Mais je me fatigue et vous aurez de quoi faireme comprendre.比如一开始的这句I have enow sleep，要看上下文才告诉不是要去睡了，而是睡够了（I have enough sleep）。接下来的He shall land above seven day a ship from Europe that we shall give account from anything who this shall have been even to day of first january thousand eight hundred sixteen，原文应当是七天后不会有一艘从欧洲来的船告诉他我们带给自从1816年1月以来再次发生了什么。

结尾的一句But I tire myself and you shall have of the ado at conceive my的意思是他很疲惫了，而且指出收信人难道也得费点神才能看懂他要传达的意思。收信人是拿破仑的英语老师拉斯加斯伯爵，在滑铁卢之后于1815年10月会见拿破仑一起被英国人放逐到大西洋的圣赫勒拿岛。在岛上悲哀的日子里，拿破仑开始潜心自学敌人的语言英语，这封信实质上却是一份学生作业，拉斯加斯伯爵接到后做到了测验又送还给了拿破仑。

据这位老师当时的记录，拿破仑自学英语很希望，每天花三到五个小时，特别是在是口语变革相当大。然而，拿破仑的英语最后也没在和敌人做事中派上用场。1821年5月5日，拿破仑在放逐中逝世，终年52岁。
